Home Safety alarms – (Repair and Maintenance)

Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide detectors can save lives.  Test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they properly work. It only takes a couple minutes.

What to do?

Unlike many household items, home safety alarms do not call for elaborate cleaning. A gentle wiping is enough for the maintenance and to relieve it from clunky debris.

Step 1: Use a ladder to reach the alarm – or – Use a vacuum with an extension that is long enough to reach the alarm.

Step 2: Using a vacuum cleaner or cloth – wipe out dust and debris from the outside vents.

Step 3: While near the fire alarm, perform the monthly test to ensure it works properly.
